Rain Alerts is a free Android app developed by Paul Wagener that sends push notifications to your device when it's about to rain in your location. The app is available in Germany, British Isles, Finland, and the Netherlands.
The app features smooth rain cloud animations that allow you to see the weather situation down to the minute. You can customize the radar images by changing the colors, transparency, speed, and forecast time. The precipitation graph shows you how many minutes you have before the next rain cloud arrives.
Rain Alerts offers a GPS tracking option that ensures your alerts are always relevant, wherever you are. You can set the app to notify you a specific number of minutes before it starts raining, and you can also specify how heavy the rain should be before you get notified.
The app has 11 different rain-related sounds to choose from, and you can set up to five different alerts. You can customize each alert with different sounds and settings, making it easy to monitor multiple locations. The app also allows you to set a time limit to prevent notifications from waking you up in the middle of the night.
Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
